Just seen this story and thought I’d share it. Scientists at Frankenfurterplex-Geneva, Switzerland have recently completed a long running program of porcine genetic testing and modification. The research has culminated in the development of a new strain of pig which scientist hope will help solve the world food shortage.
Strain 401, or ‘Pigasus’ as its been dubbed, contains eagle DNA leading it to grow large wings from 4 weeks onwards. Once fully developed the wingspan is large enough to facilitate full flight.
‘The increased mobility will allow for the herds to be transported quickly to areas where they are needed the most’ said a source from the laboratory.
‘We are confident this will help feed people in areas where grazing is poor, although we are still working on a way to herd the animals effectively’ he added.
More details on this story and the research can be found here.
